Gio Ponti: a room has, by nature, four walls. The room with a floor-to-ceiling glass window on the other hand has three walls and an empty space. The room with the furnished window has four walls again, of which one is transparent. And the pattern of design that is on the other three walls continues on this transparent one.

Gio Ponti: I have thought about Philip Johnson's house of glass again, which is just one room, with a totally transparent perimeter: it creates the same effect I was looking for in these furnished windows, as from inside the outside is always seen through the foreground of the furniture, and in this lies its charm.
